Isle of Raasay - Single Cask - Unpeated Chinkapin
ISLE OF RAASAY DISTILLERY
Very Limited - Single Cask - Unpeated Chinkapin - Cask #19/580
Raasay’s whisky is made up of 6 component cask types. peated and unpeated rye casks, peated and unpeated Chinkapin oak casks, and peated and unpeated ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. Raasay has released just one single cask of each of the component parts for the entire United States, so 200ish bottles of each, and we are fortunate to be able to say that we were able to get some in.
Single Malt Scotch, New Special Release for 2024
From the Distillery: Freshly charred and toasted, these custom made Chinkapin (Quercus Muehlenbergii) American White Oak casks are a type of Oak native to Central and Eastern North America. The fresh charring of the cask brings a rich color and flavor early on in the maturation process and the high toast caramelizes the natural sugars in the wood. Expect sweet toffee and butterscotch on the nose; with vibrant dark fruit flavors and deep, rich colors at a young age.
