To select this cask, Drammers Club created a tasting committee comprised of Bino Gopal from the Los Angeles chapter, Bob Brown from the Las Vegas chapter, Sean Crain from the Indianapolis Chapter, Matt Lurin from the Long Island, NY Chapter, and club president Charlie Prince in NYC. It was a difficult choice, but they settled on this gem of a barrel, cask #3329, which was Starward’s signature single malt finished in a cask sourced from the Barossa Valley, specifically a 2012 American oak fresh ex-red wine barrique from Demptos Cooperage.

Starward Distillery is located in Melbourne, where the temperatures can swing over 40 degrees in an hour, resulting in a very fast maturation. At just 3 years old this cask is incredibly rich and (naturally) dark in color.

Tasting Notes: On the nose, there’s mocha, vanilla and red cherry. The medium-bodied palate has spiced red fruit, cedar and vanilla bean flavors with a lingering toasted spice and toffee finish.
